The products in the Contour Map series represent high-quality reproductions of vintage USGS topographic quadrangles from the late-1800s to the mid-1900s. The majority of reproductions in this series are mosaics, which means two or more original maps were stitched together to make a new map. In addition to the mosaic process, the maps are digitally restored using a range of techniques, such as:
Color correction and text enhancement
Fixing tears, seams, and folds
Removing JPEG and other scanning artifacts
General touch-ups and aesthetic augmentations
The Minimalist Map series comprises custom cartographic art created using geospatial and design tools applied to available satellite elevation data. As they are known in the scientific community, Digital Elevation Models are used to display the differences in elevation in a particular landscape.
The Vintage Map series, in a way, is a combination of the first two series. Creating these shaded relief maps requires both a restored vintage map and a digital elevation map, fused together with advanced 3D modelling techniques. The result is a beautiful image wherein the landscape appears to extrude right off the page.
The Satellite Imagery series brings together high-resolution multi-spectral imagery with realistic shaded relief. Similar to the previous collections, the shading is achieved with digital rendering techniques and makes the image appear three dimensional.
